I looked for an Express card sound card for my C90S and there is only 1 - the Sound Blaster ExpressCard X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook sound card. For anyone interested there are a few cons, such as limited US availability, does not use the EMU20K1 X-Fi chip, and a few others. I sent a recommendation to Auzentech to build one, but only time will tell. If they do, it will probably be superior to the creative. Here is a link to the only review which actually gives specs you can't find(even on creatives website!), such as which version of EAX it supports, etc.

Other drawbacks include no analog 5.1 breakout included in the price, and rather bad Crystallizer effects (distorted sound).
I would suggest a USB alternative, like the Turtle Beach SRM, or the M-Audio Transit. -
For me, integratred Azalia is pretty suficient, crystal clear sound with headphones, i can buy fall assleep listening to classical music without a hinch, or hiss..nothing
-
Yep. My V6J SoundMax is also not bad, but the AudioAdvantage Amigo that I bought gives a bit better bass. More on the level of the M6Ne that I had gotten used to.
-
IVe been on integrated sound for 6 years so I don't really care lol. C90S is better than desktop anyway
-
guess my audio will suck on c90s after i get it, since desktop is using a sound blaster and a 5.1 headphone -_- ...
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
the azalia chip is underrated. ITs on par with some of the cheaper 5.1 sound cards.
-
The C90 is 5.1 is it not? Doesnt matter to be because my main desktop has an x-fi platinum.
-
c90 isnt 5.1 ...
and if u use this card, then doesnt it takes the space you have if you use the N draft intel pro wireless card? .... o.o if not, ill prob get one =D -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Well I meant a 5.1 usb soundcard I know the c90 doesn't support 5.1
-
screw usb T_T ... lol I only have 3 usb on this, and one is reserved for a mouse, and 2 of them are prob reserved for something else =D .... lol .... and I still dont trust USB =_= ..... Mmm Kinda asking if NCIX can special order the sound card for me in canada =D lol .... hmmm, but if i stick a sound card in there, prob wont be a space for me to stick in a fan =_= dam ....

You can always get a USB hub, especially for home where you have your 5.1 system.
Please keep in mind that all newer integrated audio cards DO output 5.1 but (directly) only via SPDIF to digital 5.1 systems. -

You're not making much sense... what video card?
I'm very unsure that the Creative is better than my suggestions made on the first page (SRM, Transit).
"not on c90s XD"
are you quite sure? I believe it's the same card as the G1S, and that certainly supports spdif. -

use hdmi
I have, the sound card in the c90 is about as good as it gets for a notebook, it would really be a waist to buy an external one. -

Typo's ha try typing on a qwerty keyboard after using DVORAK for a while. It's killing me, (I'm not a feel only typer.) I need that spare board to rip apart.
Does anyone know if the C90 onboard will send 5.1 analog out the S/PDIF line, "a la Creative 6pin jack", or digital only? -
mmm pretty sure its only 2.1 ? ._. not 100% sure tho .....
mmm this is what it says on the manual that i've been reading to prepare myself for the arriving c90:
"SPDIF Output Jack
This jack provides connection to SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) compliant devices
for digital audio output. Use this feature to turn the Notebook PC into a hi-fi home entertainment system.
Headphone Output Jack
The stereo headphone jack (1/8 inch) is used to connect the Notebook PC’s audio out signal to amplified speakers or headphones. Using this jack automatically disables the built-in speakers." -
If you are really worried about sound you would be mad to buy a creative card or any other IT Brand card. Get a professional Audio external card...you wont pay that much more for a cheap one and sound quality will be leaps and bounds better.
Better yet buy a BCD2000....hours of fun if your into that sort of thing....portable as well...for what it is. -

I can be usefull if you have a home theater and an HDTV
Does the c90s support sound over HDMI? -
also the 5.1 works with a mini-toslink to my z-5500s. -
I'm just using an older 4.1 setup plugged directly into the C90s, and it sounds awesome gaming. (music too)
