I ordered my Z70v yesterday and eventhough I new the Z70 had 4 speakers before buying I still have no idea what the sound will be like coming from them. Does anyone have any comments on the sound quality from the Z70 (compared to other notebooks of course)? My friends have 2 year old Dells and toshiba tecras respectively so if anyone can compare it to them that would help. I will be getting my Z70 in a couple of days but I want to know what to expect.

    Thanks

Laptops have crappy sound and probrably always do unless they have built in speakers like the Quosmio, and others, which has Harmon Kardon speakers, or JBL speakers built in.

    I had an Inspiron 8100 and now a Z70V.

The sound is definitely higher quality and can attain more volume with less breakup, though I wouldn't say it's a huge leap. You won't be wowed by the audio and I wouldn't use it as a boombox or anything... but for instance watching DVDs is a more pleasurable activity.

Personally Im not really anal about sound (I only have 2 Monsoon satellite speakers + sub for my desktop) but I do, for instance, notice the difference between winamp when the equilizer presets are on or off. But I never had a problem with my friends notebooks when watching movies so if its better than that then its pretty good by my standards. thx

I certainly agree. But I was wowed.
I came from the a laptop with JBL Pro (some distortion) and Harmon Kardon (not much depth), and i have to say watching a movie or playing Doom3 is quite "pleasurable". :D

I got my Z70v the other day and it sounds great. The speakers are clear and have some depth to them. Listening on full volume had no distortion at all. Over all Im very impressed! :)
