Hi, I heard about some 3rdparty program that emulates horz/vert span in ati cards... Is that possible? I want that, I want to play games in my v6v and external monitor, and watch movies of corse.(i have a support for the notebook witch levels up de lcd screen to the hight of the external monitor like icurve from apple) I have one program called Ultramon, he does span mode but note span mode in games or movies.... Everybody who can help me please!!
    thx

Are you trying to get the movie to show across both monitors? I personally don't know of any way to do that, but why would you want to? I would think watching half a movie on one monitor and half on the other would be pretty annoying....

the software is in there! I do this all the time with my z70va. I put a movie on the right monitor (which is usually my TV) and then do work on my laptop. It works completly flawlessly (sometimes i can't believe the movie is also playing off my laptop) but then look at my machines specs, haha. It does heat up the videocard quite a bit more though... that second RAMDAC really heats things up.

Oh yes its possible. Games im shure it is. Take a look in this: http://www.tomshardware.com/2004/02/16/dual_display_gaming_bigs_up/

Read the article and take your conclusions.
When i said watch movies in the monitors simultaneos think about it, if u are viewing a movie in 16:9 or 16:10 imagine the size of the image? The only problem is the separation in the middle... but i think my eys will adapt.
When i put a video in the two monitors (span) in bsplayer or wm or divxplayer etc.. I noticed that the image only appears in half of the window. when i put the window too much to the other monitor the image only appears in that monitor, never in the two simultaneos.
In the article of tomshardware I read that ati doesn't support span mode.. and nvidia does... Like I said before, maybe some chance to this work? I think it is limited by hardware, if it is Im screwed.... lol But is strange because the program Ultramon, software span mode the image, belive me I can open this browser in the two monitors and scroll it up and down.

Well, ok, but I would think that 90% of the cameras focus would be right where that split would be.

As for the spanning of video, I'm not sure if it's doable or not based on your hardware, but I think it has something to do with 'overlay', so you may want to google that term and the model of the video card in your laptop.

Yeah i read some lines about the overlay but in the driver configurations i haven't seen anything about span mode or things about dual display in overlay tab. Thanks for the response

Read and imagine... My problem was having my favourite drivers (omega) insted of the official. More exactily didn´t have "ati control centre".
It was hard to configured because of the tft/crt refresh rates but the final result is very good.
Ultramon is not necessary and unusefull, powerstrip help but "Ati control center" helps more :)

    Thanks to all who respond.
