I purchased a Asus Z70a that has been working perfectly until two weeks ago when my hard drive died. I had my hard drive replaced and the notebook seems perfectly normal with one exception: the sound sound from the speakers can still be heard when I plug my head phones in. I installed all my drivers again, and have had no luck. I'm I still missing a driver or is there something wrong with the computer?

This might sound silly, but it's really easy to slip up on, so I think it's worth mentioning: Make sure you have the headphone jack pushed all the way in.

That's the first thing I tried.

I've had problems like that before on some walkmen, radio's and from my experience (not saying yours is like this) but sometimes the contacts inside the 3.5mm socket become bent and dont disconnect when a jack is incerted, causing the main speakers to still sound. Try incerting and pulling out the 3.5mm jack a few times, hopefully it was make better contact or allow what ever is stuck to become free.

    just my 2 cents

Z70va has a known problem with the audio dj. There is nothing that can fix it but a replacement audio board. Contact your vendor and arrange rma. If they are not aware of this issue its called a z70 audio dj aka audio board.

Thankyou for the help. I contacted my dealer and will await their response. Hopefully Insane's suggestion works so I don't have to go through the hassel of having my computer professionally repaired.

My dealer told me to contact Asus, and I did. However, in order for Asus to repair the notebook I would have to take out some of the components (ie CPU, Hard Drive, Memory, etc) and ship it all the way to California. Is there anyway I can have the notebook repaired by some one else and not void any warranties?
