I feel like this is going to be just a small thread but I just picked up a ASUS flayer from a small in town computer store and it had the specs for the whole ASUS line up.
F8SV-A1
-Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20 GHz
-Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
-14" Color Shine Widescreen Display (1280 x 800 WXGA)
-NVIDIA G8600M GT 256MB
-160 GB hard drive, 1 GB DDR2 memory + 1 GB Turbo Memory
-5.7 lbs., 13.6" x 9.8" x 1.5"
-WLAN 802.11 A/B/G/N, 1.3 megapixel webcam
with 240 degree swivel, Bluetooth V2.0+EDR, Super Multi DVD/RW dual layer, fingerprint authentication, Scratch resistant in-mold Decoration (IMD)
USD $1,399 CAD $1,739
or Upgrade to F8SV-B1
-Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.40 GHz
-14" Color Shine Widescreen Display (1440 x 900 WXGA+)
-2 GB DDR2 memory + 1 GB Turbo Memory
USD $1,599 CAD $1,739
Now I believe they messed up on one of the Canadian prices and comparing it to other prices in the flayer the first Canadian price should be est. $1,525. Oh and I also know that the Canadian dollar is higher then the US dollar and these prices seem a little off but it is a September ASUS flayer so these prices might change. I just thought I would put this in a thread since there was some confusion on what kind of GPU was in the Laptop.

Prices are still made like it was 10 years ago. We paid less than in the US and now we are paying extra price. The same model would be like 2500 AUD, wich is 0.87US. Would be like 1100 euros, 1 euro is 1.40US....
It's really annoying,
I believe it was $1550 on excaliberpc.com though -
Thats a different A1 spec than before - it had the WXGA+ screen. The price is also now $200 lower on that. The B1 has some nice upgrades, but probably isn't worth the extra $200 unless you really need the extra resolution.
-
Hmm..
I think Asus will shipping it with DDR2 memory. So the choices end up being.
F8Sv with 8600GT w 256 DDR2.
OR
F8Sa with HD2600 w 512 DDR2.
If only Asus would make that GDDR3 ... I will buy it even it cost more than F8Sa.
Considering both F8Sv & F8Sa will have 14inch WXGA+ option the only thing that would matter now is which graphics card will perform better and whether Asus would nice enough to put GDDR3 memory in it. If they did it before with GF7700 w 512GDDR3 then they should be able to do it again. -
-
Longer battery life? When its under 2 hours, does it really matter whether its 1:45 or 1:55? Its pathetically low either way. Lower temps are nice.
I doubt the F8Sa is coming to the US until later, like Newegg's A8Jp. If the pricing is similar to the A8J, the F8Sa is going to be an excellent deal.... -
these prices looks wrong...
where did you get the flyers from? -
-
-
I just wish I could find a full english review for the V2S or the F8SV.
edit- And an exact date for the F8SV release in North America. -
please any date for the f8sv pleasssssssssssssssssssse, and the best place to preorder excaliburpc or milestone or geared2paly
-
EXcaliberPC Company Representative
Guys, hang in there, Asus has confirmed the release of this notebook in the states. Actual release date: TBD (mid of November)
-
-
Hey OP, what store did you see this flyer? Any website with the details? What stores offer the F8Sv?!
-
anyway i preorder from excalibur anyway i believe they are the best but still not 100% sure about the release date.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso

I live in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Canada and the Store I got the Flyer from was called Arctic Data Systems.
They pretty much order everything off the web and charge a little extra. Their laptops are normaly $200 more from them then ordering them off the web yourself. I usually go their just to take a look at what they have and then I order it myself online from somewhere else.
as for details and stores offering the F8SV I am not sure of any that have not already been mentioned in this thread. -
man, i was leaning towards the macbook pro for my next notebook but this asus, looks REALLY interesting! a HD 2600 or 8600m GT in a 14.1 inch form factor = wow! can't seem to find any specs on the overall size (thickness) though. looks kinda thickish (1.5") but i guess they do have to squeeze a hot GPU in there.
-
As long as they don't neuter the graphics card like they did in the V2S I may be interested in this one. Nice looking notebook.
-
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
that laptop looookss sooooo nice *drools*
-
Yes it does. I just hope it runs as good as it looks. The V2S is a great looking laptop too. In fact I would prefer having the spill proof keyboard and some carbon fiber parts in a notebook. But if I can get that graphics card in a 14 inch form factor without the chip being monkeyed with beyond repair, I would probably make the leap. Especially if it looks like that. It kind of looks almost like a w3j in a way. Hope it gets GDDR3 too. It's a possibility with it being at 256. But in that small of a forum factor I would almost bet it will be gddr2.
-
Mid of november? that was the same like 2 months ago.. can't they be more specific...?
-
-
we need a confirm date guys
-
Actually, I want a review.
-
i cant wait anymore, please excalibur update
-
actually, excaliber did update. they just put up both the a1 and b1 model, with price changes.
a1 is now Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.20GHz) 14" WXGA (1280x800) 1GB Memory + 1GB Turbo Memory 160GB HDD DVD Super Multi Nvidia 8600GT 256MB w / Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium - $1349
and the b1 = Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.40GHz) 14" WXGA+ (1440x900) 2GB Memory + 1GB Turbo Memory 160GB HDD DVD Super Multi Nvidia 8600GT 256MB w / Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium - $1549
i dont know much about monitors, whats the major difference between the two beside resolution size?
also the a1 only has 1gb, but excaliber has a bundle that will add another gig for free. -
ASUS F8SV-B1 in excaliber have the tv tuner or not please respond
-
-
I want this laptop SOOOOO MUCH!
i hope it comes with ddr3, thatd be perfect, but saying that i can get a decent over clock on a 8600gt that would usually perform like a 8400gt isnt all that bad, id more than likely get the high res model and run games at 1024*728 -
i cant wait toooo
-
how exactly can you overclock the gpu?
in bios? -
ASUS F8SV-A1/B1 has NO HDMI !!!! Surprising!
-
yeah, its been like that since they announced it.
it does have a dvi port, for which you can get a dvi-hdmi cable for to connect to your hd tv. -

Wow,that is a pretty good deal! I just wish I could find a good price on the F8SV-B1. ... WOW....Excaliberpc.com has a good deal if you get the F8SV-B1 with a 200GB 7200RPM and upgrade to 3Gb of ram. (Which is exactly what I want!) For $1698.00 USD and for Shipping to Canada the total comes to $1778.00 USD but you have to pay through a wire transfer.
I think that is a great deal and if I had any money to spare it would go to the purchase of that laptop! -
dam.. i want the B1..
btw notice that this f8sv is 1G ramed -
anyone know where to get a f8sv-b1 wiht a remote control??
north america or outside?
