Just installed Vista on a V6VA but my temps are about 10C higher in NHC because speedstep doesnt seem to be working, CPU is running at a full 1.86Ghz. However when I go to the BIOS and set the CPU to minimal performance it does drop to 900Mhz. Anyone know if theres a fix to enable speedstep or is the problem that Vista is just to new and its a driver problem? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

had the same problem with my lappy. I used RMClock to sort it out. I put it to the poorly coded BIOSs'

Did you undervolt or throttle back the CPU? I have it on Performance on Demand but the tray icon still reads 1.86GHz. Ive been using NHC so dont really know much on RMClock, is there a tutorial on the forum or a link you could give me? Most guides Ive seen are just for undervolting. Thanks for your help.

You need to do a thing called 'Load Defaults' in RMclock on the Management tab, I think. It will read the type of your CPU etc and set all the correct stuff.
Or you could go ahead and use NHC if that's what you're used to. -
Thanks E.B.E. I did get RMClock working but the fan on my notebook was constantly running in Vista, versus dead silent operation in XP so I decided to switch back.

Not a bad choice in my opinion.
You're welcome. -
I got it working on my A8Jm using pwr4gear. Basically install the new version of pwr4gear from Asus Drivers' website. Then manually start batterylife.exe or add it to ur startup folder. Then speedstep will work, which you can test with cpu-z or any other program of your choice. The power4gear profiles will show up in vista's power management program as well.

The new NHC has a problem with dynamic switching, which makes the CPU to be always at maximum speed (an maximum voltage, if I'm not mistaken...). Chech the english NHC forum.
