I spilled beer in my keyboard and have already shutdown. powered off took out battery etc etc. i found out a bunch of my keys dont work not or go crazy but when i plug in a USB it works perfectly so i figure its just the keyboard. I removed the keyboard and ran it through water for a good minute or two and am currently letting it dry and waiting.

theres a good chance my keyboard is done for and i am wondering where I can buy a new one. i saw in another thread to go to this site: http://estore.asus.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=4340 but my keyboard is currently out of stock and I have a feeling it wont be getting stock soon; is there anywhere else I can get a new keyboard?

Call the Asus estore and ask when they will have it back in stock.

Also, in case you weren't aware, your M50VM should be covered with the 1 year accidental damage protection against spills. If your notebook is less than a year old, contact Asus and ask for a keyboard replacement for free.

Thats assuming he knew about it and sent in the paper-work...otherwise he better hope he has had it less than 60 days to still be able to apply for it.

That's true, but even if you're past the 60 days deadline, you can still send it in and Asus would still honor your 1 year accidental warranty. (Happened to me a few times :p)

yeah i was aware but unfortunately its been about 14 months now :(. i called them and itll take two weeks to be in stock so till then ill just pray that my keyboard works when it turns on. if theres no motherboard damage and assuming i cleaned out the keyboard perfectly would its function be restored 100%?

If there's no damage to the motherboard and you've thoroughly cleaned the keyboard, then everything should work as usual. However, depending on how long you left the beer on the keyboard, the spring mechanism on the keys can get clingy.

Not to scare you, but soda got on my FX's keyboard, and that malfunctioned while a usb did not. Wasnt long til the motherboard went. Mine also had the problem of the keyboard randomly typing on its own or the wrong keys though. Just a heads up.
