    Hi!

    Sorry for my english.

I have a question about the latest update on Splendid Utility on Asus web.
Downloaded version V1.02.19 to my G1-S Vista 32 and install.
After getting error "uiVista failed with error 2: Det går inte att hitta filen."?? :(

Try reinstall and then tried version V1.02.16 and later the one from the CD that was included, but with the same error.

Wrote to Asus support, but yet no answer...
Could you help before would I be very glad! :)

    Thanks in advance.

    /Pa

Badly coded ASUS software... I suggest you make do without ASUS splendid, or:
    - Try recovering a System Restore point before you made the first update. (Control Panel > Backup and Restore Center I think)
    - Uninstall and search for any remnants of the software in Program Files, the registry, user settings etc., and manually remove them. Then reinstall. You need to be a bit Windows-savvy to take this route.

If all else fails, you can always reinstall Windows but I think that's a bit overkill.

    Hi again.

    Thanks for your advice E.B.E!

Tried to serch the registry, all computer and so on.
Splendid, Asus, Backbone to find anything wrong. Both before and after uninstall.
Tried reinstall once more but the same...

To run a restore point before the first update are I a bit worried to do because of all changes I have done after the update...
Tried from the CD that came with the computer aswell.

The Splendid utility isn´t that good program for a reinstall of Windows, but I think this is something Asus needs to solve.

I just wonder if there are anyone run this Splendid Update from Asus Webside and getting it to work?

    /Pa

    Hi Pa,

I have looked on ASUS downloads: V1.02.19 is WXP utility. For Vista you have to load V1.02.18.

    Hello, Pa
I have similar problems with TomTom this is GPS company) updates
The bad news I've never managed to fix errors by myself.
The good news is that short after bad update new update with fixes is coming out.
May be you are more lucky than me and could fix the problem.
    1. Uninstall 'splendid'
    2. Run software that cleans up registry.
    3. If you have 'Spybot S&D' run system internals
    4. If you know how, run 'regedit' utility of Vista and remove all the remnants of 'splendid'

When you feel your computer 'splendid free' try fresh install from downloaded file
    Good Luck

P.S. Onces 'splendid' has something to do with hot keys and dedicated buttons, make sure you have not 'tweaked' this stuff

    I encountered a
"uiVista failed with error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." when trying to launch Splendid from the shortcut (or Backbone application file), and I found after experimenting that if I launch the ACMON application located in C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\Splendid (if you use 32-bit windows instead of 64-bit it will probably be in the Program Files directory).

At first I thought clicking the Splendid application after ACMon was still crashing  , but using the FN+C hotkey successfully switches the Splendid modes. :)

If it works for you I suggest you add ACMon and the Backbone applications to system startup.

feel your pain on that ASUS Splendid app, I just go the ASUS N10, decided to downgrade fromt he Vista Business to the XP Pro ASUS provided because the N10 only supports 2GB RAM. My Splendid app gives me the same error message. I will be contacting ASUS Tech support & report back to this forum if they are able to remedy.
