I have the S96j and I can not get the Splendid Video Technology feature to work. In the manual it talks about pressing function then C. The manual says that you can adjust contrast, brightness, skin tone, and color saturation with this feature and I'm very interested in trying it.

I'm running the drivers that came with the Notebook and I have downloaded the latest version of the Splendid utility off of Asus's web page. When I then execute the splendid utility nothing happens. I can see program in taskbar but can not access it. There are no new icons over by clock. Function+C does nothing.

Any help out there? Anyone running on their notebook?

It's really just a color correction software with quick change options.... not the life changing feature Asus seems to want to push it as....

All function options are controlled by the ATK drivers... so make sure they're installed. Also, I'm not sure, but I'm rather postive that there is dedicated software similiar to how power4gear works... and that should be in the same area of the drivers disc that PG is located.

    Thanks for response.

The ATK drivers are installed all the other function buttons work.

I'm very familiar with the CD now and I'm fairly certian that there is nothing relating to Splendid on it. P4G is on its own directory with no other programs.

Thanks for the help, any other thoughts?

    it's not so splended.

there's this "Fn" button on the lower left corner. press that and the letter "C" at the same time. you should see a little rectangle appear at the top left of screen. keep clicking "C" you will see changes with all 4 options. whoopie.

i only know this cuz "Ctrl" on my old vaio is where "Fn" is on the asus. this button switch is driving me nuts, actually. copy/paste shortcut just got real tedious :p

EDIT: oops sorry, i just read your reply again, you've tried that already...

Splendid is a new technology from Asus. It requires a software application to adjust the setting with four option: Normal, Gamma, Vivid, Theater, Soft, My Profile. A sticker on the front side mention this: "The exclusive ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology improves image contrast, brightness, skin tone and color saturation for vivid display with true brilliance." We believe that this feature is very useful to look the pictures and photo editing, video and gaming as well.

I turned off the Splendid feature when using the PW191, since it looked better without it.
You can easily tweak the settings how you like without the "Splendid" feature on, and get better results.
Think about it... it's great for correcting bad photos, or bad video recordings... but what about clean sources?
It just oversaturates the **** out of it... I'm a purist at heart and just don't see the necessity of this feature.

You either have a good feed, or you don't.
Software correction is not going to fix the fact that you still have a poor quality source.
