I bought conviction but did not read the fine print. Apparently you can not play it on laptops. At least that is what the Ubisoft support people told me. Has any one got it to play I have a G71 with geforce 260m vid card 2GHz 6gigs ram. I loaded the game but when I try to play it the screen flickers and then nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

That's a load of crap from UBI.

Well I'm running the game without any problems on the G73. Given the specs of your laptop, the game should run without any issues.

BTW, the game has the dreaded DRM protection system, meaning, you MUST be CONNECTED to the INTERNET for it to work. So make sure you are connected, and your firewall allows the game to send and receive data.

Other than that, there are two basic things you can:

Check to ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date
Ensure that you have Direct X latest version installed along with GFWL.

If these fail, there there is likely an issue with the game itself. Google for it.

    Good luck.

Thanks Hasib for the response. When I run dxdiag is says I have Direct x version 11. And I updated my graphics card as well.

Well do you have an active internet connection? Assuming you are using a genuine copy of the game, a 512 kbps (at least) is required to run the DRM software.

I did not buy the game just becuase of it's DRM restrictions which suck bad.
I can understand the whole piracy thing but this is taking to a new level.

Well, as with Assasins Creed II, Silent Hunter 5, and Conviction, pirates have always found a way to get over these hurdles. May take a few weeks, but they always do. Its the legitimate, paying customers who get the brunt of this.

I don't get it. There is just as rampant a piracy in Xbox360 as well, yet,
when push comes to shove, its the PC gamers who get all the blame.

Back to tains, if your problems are related to DRM, then perhaps its tehparadox? ;)
