Ok, don't laugh (too much), but I have a seriously squeaky space bar key on my ASUS Z70Va. It's very annoying.

My first thought was to take the keyboard out. However, I never could figure out how to hold down both latches at the same time to get the thing out. (I found disassembling guide somewhere online... lost it now though...)

My second thought was to just pop out the offending key. I wimped out though, since I couldn't tell whether the ASUS Z70Va has keys that CAN pop out. I don't wanna break anything. D:

So I'm just curious if anyone can tell me how to fix my squeaky space bar key? It's the only key that squeaks. Please help! :(

pop it off and put some lubricant on the bracket. use very little and avoid putting it on the leads. you can also beat it!

So it IS safe to pop it off? I'm not gonna break anything? Is there some special secret way I should do it?

(The only keyboards I've ever dealt with are desktop ones and those are different...)

Yes, it is safe to remove the keys, but be careful because keys like the space bar have clips and a bracket to help the move properly. Don't force it too much.
