Recently, for some bizzare reason unknown to me, my lappie wont go into stand-by! Or if it does it can only do so right at start up before too maby applications are running, kinda defeats the purpose of stand-by....
but if i try to do it when other things are running, it either just wont, as in I can press the button as much as I want and nothing happens, or the screen becomes a multi-color bloob with lines arcoss it and then freezes... why!?
When i first got the lappie this wasnt a problem, but just after a subsequent format... i was wondering if the latest ATK100 driver would have caused this... any other ideas? Vid. Driver? Would omega be the cause??? Any suggestions would be great!
On a side note, the audio problem (speakers still being on when headphones/speakers plugged into audio-out) I had earlier is 100% hardware as it is still there after a format... any ideas on that?? Hopefully warrenty will cover it as it 100% hardware....

the ATK drivers are what controls all of those hotkeys -- powergear, etc...... but they also control the powersaving features... like standby... I would go back to the original and see what happens.

well tried the old ATK but nothing really... i can go on standby again only when nothing is running... i just tested it again by trying to go into standby, which worked (although the screen got screwed up), i then opened firefox and tried to go into standby and the screen when black and it kinda stoped midway before going into standby... Would SMART monitoring do this? Other ideas? Gfx drivers??? its annoying 2 say the least... Ideas?
welll did some more testing... the problem only occurs when the powerplay settings are set to optimal bat life. Maybe its a gfx driver problem then? Has anyone else had problems with Omegas simiar 2 this?? -
try the stock drivers and see if it works properly.
If so, then you'll know it's the Omegas causing you the problem -
Before I though that I this a similar problem, but it was because of the applications that I was running would not allow my laptop to go into standby, because the problem was set to do so....

Good to know you got it sorted out.
The omegas are nice...but are you really that much of a gamer?
I'd stick to Asus's drivers unless the omegas offered much improved performance.
