So I recently purchased 2 UL80AG's for my father and I but I am considering returning one (mine) for the staples version U80A. The main reasons for the change are the faster t6600 which will fit my uses better along with retaining a decent 5+ hour battery life and the expresscard slot which will allow me to use Esata adapter and avoid slow USB2.0 external drives.

My main concern, however, is the fact that I cannot confirm whether the U80A has the 4500m or 4500mhd. The U80a Hands-On thread shows that the U80a has a 4500mhd, but some users have reported the U50a from bestbuy as only having the 4500m. This would be killer for me as the 4500mhd in my UL80AG pretty much off-loads all video. My CPU hits 3-5% while playing 1080p district 9 AVC file. I dont plan on gaming, but end up using photoshop/dreamweaver and most applications I tend to use are cpu-intensive, however, its quite valuable being able to off-load HD video as the t6600 will eat battery alive (I can imagine) if it had to decode 1080p video by itself.

I would really appreciate anyones input or experiences regarding these two laptops. I'm going by staples tomorrow to see if what the exact specs are but if its turns out to have the 4500mHD its a guaranteed switch as the loss of 4hours battery life is not a huge concern for me.

Bump---No one? I was hoping someone here owns a U80a or saw the $550 deal Staples is currently running. I went by staples today and, essentially found out that short of buying it and checking for myself (they have no display models up) I wont be able to find out from them. Im currently on the phone with Asus support trying to figure it out.

I just got a UL80AG. it is great.... This is laptop really suits my needs (I mostly need it for Excel, Word and surfing). The 8 hour battery means I never have to bring the charger around...

    I definitely recommend.

Staples website states that the u80a has the intel 4500m. I'm hoping that the u80a has the 4500mhd. I'm typing this response from the newly acquired u80a from staples.
