Is there a way to disable the start up sound, when the Asus logo comes up?

Is this the "Windows Sound" or a proprietary Asus thing? The Windows Sound can be turned off via Start/ControlPanel/HardwareAndSound/Sound/Uncheck Play Windows Startup Sound.

You'll find an option in the BIOS for it.

    Cheers.

Yep the option is called "Play POST Sound". Enter bios by F2 at ASUS splashscreen.
