The right button on the touchpad of my u46e is sticking. It's only 1.5 years old. I'm pretty sure I had juice from an orange on my fingers... How can I gently access the touchpad so I can clean the button mechanics... I've seen this... but on a keyboard where keys can be removed so the mechanics can be cleaned. I just need to get under the lid with a little alcohol and free up the mechanics a bit...

    Is it possible?

You might want to try poking a businesscard dipped in rubbing alcohol around the edges of the buttons. Or a q-tip. You could also work a tiny bit of alcohol around it and let it sit for 12 hours or so.

It is definitely possible to get at the touchpad buttons, but you need to remove the top case assembly/deck/palmrest (whatever term you want to call it). Have you ever taken a laptop apart before? I don't have a disassembly guide for that model.

Solution found.... From my system building and modding days. A very small shot of no residue electric cleaner along the edges of the button. And all is good. In the proper doses, the stuff is a nearly universal....
    Thanks for the lead.

Removing the palm rest is not terribly difficult, but all the screws required to remove in order to disassemble that one component can be an inconvenience. Nicely done!

Which electric cleaner did you use/would you recommend?
