Let me start off by saying my Asus's speakers work pretty well. But I've had an issue with a long continuous "beeeeeeeeeeep" sound when I put my headphones in the headphone jack(clearly labeled as such). I've tried various headphones to make sure it wasn't the headphones causing problems and they all did the same thing. It fades out when sound goes through the headphones but hearing it as background noise gets really annoying.

Any reason why this is doing it? And is there a way to fix it? I have a M50SA model btw.

This seems to be a recurring issue for a lot of the notebooks. This isn't the first thread about this problem.

I have an M50VM and I hear a hi-pitched noise when I use my headphones AND when there is a USB device plugged into any of the two adjacent ports.

If anyone has a fix for this (not just simply unplugging the USB devices when using your headphones) please share.

In the meantime, complain to Asus!

Does it do it for every USB device? I've seen people saying that it does it with the USB mouse supplied, and plugging another mouse might remove the problem. I don't know if this is true, but if it's the mouse it's worth trying.

I unplugged my mouse and sure enough the beeep was gone. E.B.E. mentioned trying a different mouse so I found an older mouse to try out. The noise does become a lot fainter. I gotta really concentrate to hear it when I'm playing music and I can barely hear it when nothing's playing. Not fixed but its definitely a lot more tolerable.

Don't wireless mouses have a sensor in the form of a USB device to work?

Are you using that little Asus Mouse that came with your laptop? i stopped using that thing and tried a different usb mouse and the noise went away, also that mouse is the only USB device that caused the problem, i tried different flash drives and my external HDD none of them gave me that problem.

I think various types of devices create various types of interference.... and the audio is sensitive to a certain frequency range.

One USB-less option for mouse would be a BlueTooth mouse.

I get a very strong electrical noise on my G1S-B1, USB devices on or off are irrelevant. The only thing that stops the noise is removing the laptop from power (running on battery). Any Ideas?

Ground loop perhaps? Try a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter (Removing ground). If the sound goes away, it's a ground loop. In that case you need a better power socket.

Using the 2-prong adapter as your main power supply is not recommended.

    Yes! noise gone! Thank you!
I think there will be no problem with the adapter, since the power supply is not grounded anyway.
