Hi folks.
My notebook occasionally crashes when it's idle. The Blue Screen reads Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error (0x000077). Is there anyone who have faced a similar problem before?
Also, when playing games, sometimes the notebook freezes (for about 3-5 seconds). After this happens, the notebook either resumes normally or crashes.
I've used this notebook for about 1 month now, and here or some of the things that I've done:
1. Did a clean Windows reinstall
2. Updated BIOS
3. Disabled some applications at Startup (like DMedia, ASUS Chkmail, Protector Suite QL, etc)
4. Changed from FAT32 to NTSF
I don't know if it's a hardware defect or my Windows just acting up. If any of you can give me suggestions or pinpoint a problem, I'd appreciate it very much. Thank you.

do you get memoery dump file ?
they will be c:\windows\minidumps -
Try downloading MemTest and run it overnight. If it gets any errors or crashes, you could have a bad stick of RAM.
-
Yes I do get a "Beginning to dump physical memory" message.
I will try the MemTest. -
any thing plugged into your notebook?
also try to read smart from hd tune because hds cause bsods also
Error 0x000077 or KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR
The system to tried to read of the relative data you to the Kernel from the virtual memory (rows of paging) and has not found the data in the specific address of memory. This error puo' to be the cause of a varieta' of problems between which, defective the physical memory, a hard disk not working, controller of the disc or a cable it does not shape to you correctly, presence of files infects from virus, given corrupts.
This is most likely a hard drive error although something in there says it could be a ram error -
$5 it's faulty RAM. Change the slot and try memtest86

I would actually say hard drive on this one. I've seen a similar error code on SATA hard drives when they are experiencing some failure. I'd run a full scan on your hard disk from a bootable medium like a linux LiveCD.
-
Yes I would take up your bet and say its hard drive failure
The thing that gives me doubts is because the machine is so new.
I would as I said just use hdtune and read any SMART errors. -
Most appliances, cars, etc that are lemons are usually brand new. My buddy's brand-new Hyundai ran like a '78 Datsun right off the lot. Take that as you may, but I always say you're more likely to experience outright and unexpected equipment failure in the first 2 weeks than in the next 2 years.
Hopefully if there is a problem it's still under warranty. -
I ran memtest overnight and in the morning I found 0 errors. So hard drive could be defective then? What is the best way to determine if this is the case? hdtune?
Thank you for the help so far! -
Try the manufacturer's disk diagnostic utility...google it
-
What version of the Bios are you up to?
-
-
-
Press F2 at bootup. Anyway it's definitely not the bios. Have you tried a disk diagnostic utility like Hitachi's DFT (if your drive is Hitachi)?
http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT -
Hm. After running memtest and Seagate's Diagnostic Tool --no error on both-- my system is still crashing when it's idle and when I play games.
What should I do now?
-
Don't fret it. Send it to the ASUS techies. Should fix it for you in a jiff
-
If the memory and hard drive are both fine then this is more likely a software problem. If it is a software problem then Asus support may not be able to do much for you. They can't be responsible for everything that we install on our machines.
What were the last changes (installs, removals, new hardware...) to your notebook before the problem started? -
Could be a controller error/bad mobo
I believe he already did a clean windows installation. As i said, give ASUS a ring
