    Hi

I want to upgrade my current CPU

As you can see i have the [email protected], I usually overclock it to 2.9GHz when needed.

But now im thinking about upgrading the whole CPU

I need a CPU with the fastest possible clock speeds!!

I dont care about number of cores, The speed is what really matters for me

    My laptop is G50VT

So....any suggestions???.....also if you could supply a link for the CPU that would be nice

    Thanks alot....peace

The fastest CPUs the G50VT can support are the T9900 and the X9100 IIRC.

Given that the X9100 and T9900 are factory clocked with the same frequencies, I'd recommend going for the T9900 due to the lower TDP rating. This will enable your G50 to run slightly cooler without sacrificing performance. The only other difference between these 2 processors is the unlocked multipliers in the X9100.

    Thank u David

I was wondering about the difference between both of them

    So...T9900 is the ONE

By the way it costs 480$

hmmm....might as well replace the whole laptop!!

I believe a member on NBR by the name of Forge has one for sale ( now that i think about it, i think its a X9100 ), for around $400 I believe.

And as youve noticed, they are not cheap. At all. Were I you, I would keep what you have now and save for a new laptop later. Even if you got T9900 ( or any CPU for that matter ) to 3.5Ghz, the actual performance difference you would realize would be quite small.

Check with ebay, craigslist and the marketplace forum. I just picked up a T9900 for $300 not long ago.
