I am looking to buy a new Asus notebook. Just recently I bought an Intel 80GB SSD, that I would like to use in stead of the standard drive.

Is Windows 7 activated on bootup, and if it is can it be moved to to the SDD or reinstalled using the recovery DVD's with the same license?

I had no problem installing Windows 7 from the recovery discs. I don't remember having to reenter the license number.
