I was just wondering what use does Synaptics have? we can use the touchpad without it anway....what's the advantage?

by the way...also wondering, is there any use of autostarting the following program (run -> msconfig)

    Nvidia Driver Helper Service
Nvidia Compatible Windows 2000 Display Driver
    Nvida Media Center Library

The Synaptics Drivers add a number of additional controls and features, such as gestures and a completely separate control panel configuration setup.

so if I don't autostart Synaptics, what will I lose? do I have to actually start Synaptics for the advantage? is it an actual program? or just a built in thing....because I have it auto starting in msconfig...and i wanted to stop it from starting...

It is the device driver/configuration controls for your touchpad. Why would you not want to start it?

Most likely support for your display device.

I would not stop them if I were you. there are probably better candidates for stopping (like bloatware).

But you can always try disabling them temporarily and seeing if the computer runs fine...

If you disable the synaptics driver you won't be able to do a lot of stuff with the touchpad... no scroll region, no tap to click, no sensitivity control.

Like I said before, probably there is a lot of other really useless stuff that should go first.

Keep it. I uninstalled it and then had problems with external mice and the control panel "mouse" properties would not open. Of course, installing it again fixed everything up.

They're only practical and of use if you want to use the hardware installed on your PC.
