I am not able to control the synaptic pointing device as well as I would like. Quite frequently, when I touch the scroll bar to scroll down, it starts scrolling down lots of pages on my document when I meant only to scroll down half a page and it won't stop. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do to stop it.
This doesn't happen all the time but about 1/4 of the time the touch pad seems to have mind of its own. It will suddenly hit to go back a page or two on a browser screen while I am in the middle of typing something, the horizontal scroll doesn't seem to work very often, and sometimes when I am in windows explorer, it will move one file folder into another without my trying to do so.
I don't have this issue on my HP touch pad but it is nowhere near as sophisticated as the one on the ASUS. I know I have to keep my hands away from the touch pad but I am still having this problem intermittently.
Can anybody suggest something I need to do? Can you tell from what I am describing that I must be doing something some of the time but not all of the time? What do I have to watch out for?

mouse properties -> device settings -> settings ->
tweak with your:
virtual scrolling -> long distance scrolling
and maybe sensitivity as well -
The virtual scrolling makes no sense to me. It is set to scroll 3 lines at a time -- which would not explain why it goes 20+ pages at a time.
Edit update: after I made the adjustments, the very next thing I went to was another web site and as soon as I touched the scroll, it just kept scrolling and scrolling, my hands were completely away from the touch pad by my side... and it scrolled down through about 15 posts and then bounced and then scrolled up, which is what it has done since I first got the laptop.
SO the sensitivity is not the problem. In fact it made it worse. It would not respond to anything I did to stop it scrolling, which sometimes I can if I keep tapping on the touch pad.
Update again: I have read more on the device properties and I think I ma nailing down the problem. You were right, it was the virtual scrolling. I did not understand how it worked. Now I will read everything and see if I can't fix it.
Thanks sooo Much.....
