I'm deciding between a W3J or a V6J, but right now, the deal breaker is the processor speed. If the V6J comes out with a 1.83Ghz, I would get that.
I guess my question is, is the V6J coming out with the T2400 in the US anytime soon? On another note, will the V6J come out with a better graphics card in the US (like a x1400, x1600)? Sorry for being so long-winded...![]()

Dunno about the US but here in the UK it's out now with a 1.83ghz cpu and a 7400go gpu.
I too was in your position regarding these two notebooks.
Now i've narrowed it down to the Macbook Pro and W3J.
I would hold out until someone reviews the W3J, then make your mind up. I reckon it'll only be a few more weeks until someone here gets a W3J. -
V6J in the states only comes with the T2300 1.66Ghz Duo Core processor along with the geforce 7400go
havent seen any other specs on it other than those. -
Do any of you recommend importing the faster 1.83Ghz V6J from the UK to the US? How does the warranty work? Will the coverage be the same in both countries...? Any help would be appreciated!

Honestly, I don't think you'll see a difference between the two processors. If anything, it'll all be in your head.
-
the warranty is international
and since v6j is being sold in the US also,
you won't have problems in getting spare parts
but like runaway said, it'll cost a small fortune to import the sweet little thing all the way from the UK. on top of customs, you are paying for delivery and insurance, and still run that tiny little risk getting it in a bad shape (despite the insurance)
but it's a totally different matter, if you have someone flying in from there to buy it for you. -
I had the same concerns about the V6J, but after having it for a couple of days I have to admitt that the processor and gpu are more than enough for me. Plus, once merom hits later this year, and once my warantee runs out, then I will upgrade the processor. Until then - this beauty will work just fine =)
Highly reccommend this system! -
I'm going to second the notion that you won't really notice the difference between the two processors. For me, the difference was the X1600 video card, which will certainly make a difference.

I have mentioned this in other threads but the reason i am not going for the V6 is beacuse:
V6J has the older Built-in AC'97 compliant audio chip, where as the W3J has the newer Intel HD Audio chip.
also the W3J has a multibay which can be used to house a second battery, or second HDD, for me that is a massive bonus.
Althought the V6 is sweet looking and light for a 15' , for me the W3J is just for now..... more versatile. -
In the Netherlands you can get the V6J with a T2600 processor, same applies to the W3J.
If you are going to import from Europe, or the other way around, please make sure you use http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/pay/international_billing.html
Bill Duty, Tax, and Shipping Charges to Shipper: Shipper pays a destination country's duty and tax as well as all shipping charges
In this way you can lower the total value and can be sure you don't have to wait for ages till your notebook gets through the customs. -
I would be carefull of importing duties, my friend in Oslo brought some mountain bike parts from the UK, and it was actually the shipping company who dobed him into Customs, who made him pay the import duty.
I am sure a company like Proportable would not pay for your importing duty?? that just doesnt make sense. I mean someone still has to pay importing duties, and i am sure the people selling them would pass this cost on to the consumer.
Maybe I just dont understand? maybe you get a reduced importing duty if you do it that way?
Could you explain? the only way I know of getting out of paying importing duties is if you travel to that country and bring it back with you and not declaring it to customs when you reenter the country.
