Earlier I've expressed concern over GPU temperatures being high during idle. I'm still in the process of getting the Powermizer switch to work, but lately I've been noticing temperature increases with more than just the GPU. Everything is getting hotter.

Here is a capture of my temperature readings of my laptop from a little over three weeks ago.

And here are my current readings as of right now. Again, these are idle temperatures.

I have not done any overclocking. All the computer's setting have remained the same between the two readings. Even as I'm writing this the CPU temperature is rapidly fluctuating. I'm sitting here watching it switch between high and low numbers every second ranging between 53C and 57C over the last minute.

The GPU is the main culprit. Since it shares heatpipes with the GPU, the CPU will get hotter, too. And even though the HDD is relatively far from the GPU and doesn't share a heatsink, residual heat is going to affect it, I think.

Good luck on getting powermizer working. It'll do wonders for idling

But why has almost everything suddenly risen by 10C? It's been like this for a while lately, actually. I kept a close eye on my temperatures before when that first reading was taken and the results were always very consistent. The other components were not being affected to this degree.

It could be hotter in your room. I don't know. How are your load temperatures?

Room temperature might be warmer, but not too different. I haven't recorded any load temperatures yet. I would be a little worried to try right now. CPU temperatures are already pretty high. It was floating around 59-63C for a moment.

It's only a month old.. but yeah there probably has been some build up at least. I'll have to get some compressed air and see what the results say afterward.

Ill be looking forward to this as well. My laptop might have the same problem with regard to the increase in temp.

What are good idle temperatures for a CPU and GPU in a laptop?

Also, does Idle mean nothing running at all? Or, not playing games and just surfing the internet?

    Thanks!
