help me as i'm going nuts by now...the fan seems to be half speed ... i know it can go faster than this... What is Remote Temp ? Local temp and Temp1 ? the max was 102C on Remote , 61C on Temp1 and on Local temp 69C. I'm writing this thread from the pc that is in test. (As i was typing the pc went into standby mode ...) Now that is back... this is driving me nuts. I have the latest driver from ATK from asus website... the fan doesn't seem to be working fully sometimes.. can the latest atk driver have a bug.. i'm running xp now.. fresh install... i'm going to try out going back to original ATKACPI driver. Ow yes i forgot to mention that prime 95 25.6 was running for about 4 hours.

Have you tried a BIOS update?

I believe that Asus' fanspeed settings (start temp and rpm settings) are generally controlled by BIOS, not ACPI, as new BIOS versions will often have changed thermal protocols from Asus' engineers. I would start there.

Yep, if it didn't have a thorough cleaning lately, it could use one. Not only blowing but perhaps also fan disassembly (there is a guide on the Info Booth).

Although, the fan should kick in at full speed at those temps.

Alright, then I'll close this one, otherwise it gets confusing discussing the same thing in two threads.

Alternatively I can merge the two threads, PM me if you'd rather have that. For now I'm closing this one.
