Hi, I'm not currently able to provide detailed driver information, but i could provide them later if necessary. I have the same issue with both W7 and W8. I use a samsung 830 SSD.

I have only 4 hours idle batterylife and about 3 hours productive batterylife (desktop use). My CPU always clocks to max allowed frequency, even if used cpu time is zero. I know this is not a issue isolated to my computer, but I could not find any information about this problem online. Please help me before i throw this piece of computer out of my 8th floor window!

    Thanks

That's shorter than the review of 4-5 hours.
Have you compared the battery life before installing the SSD?
Are you running on max battery power plan? Or balanced?

But another guy has about the same battery life as yours did.

I installed the old HDD with the shipped installation of windows 8, and the CPU clocked down when it could.
I have tried every power setting imaginable. Power saver, balanced, power4gear battery saver... If max frequency is 0.77 GHz, then the cpu runs at 0.77GHz. If max is 1.2 GHz it runs 1.2 GHz... I have compiled a list of drivers installed on the shipped drive, and i wil try to install them.

Yes, 3 hours - despite the discrete GPU and 48-watt hour battery - is below the mark. Have you ran any utilities to test the wear level of the battery? Perhaps an application such as BatteryCare will give you relevant feedback.
