I'm kind of regretting purchasing this laptop. Not bringing it back to Best Buy either, since they obviously won't refund.

Runs games like a charm, but the double keystroke problem is annoying the heck out of me! For those that don't know, the G71 series of laptops have a problem where occasionally one keystroke will register as two.

Is there any solution to this issue?

    4 solutions:

    1) Restart the computer, it has been mentioned before that if you start getting this double typing (usually after you wake it up from sleep) restarting the computer may help.

    2) Type slower, it has also been mentioned that it could be just user error, get comfortable with the keyboard and don't type too fast ;)!

    3) Exchange the laptop for another, show Best Buy employees that you are getting this problem and would like a simple exchange (ie new one) to see if it fixes the problem.

    4) Grab the G51vx, it has had no problems since day one. If the cpu is an issue, simply overclock it or buy a new one on ebay (they sell for cheap).

Sorry I can't be more helpful...

Seems to happen even if the computer never sleeps at all. Need to check into this.

Definitely not user error. I've typed one key at a time, very slowly to see if it still happens. It does.

They wouldn't consider this a defect, and then they'd ask me to pay the 15% restocking fee (which is around $200) to get a refund >_> I think I'd rather live with a weird keyboard :p

I heard there were heat issues with the G51, but that doesn't seem to be a real problem. Definitely should have gotten one instead of this G71, it looks cooler too. Ah well.

ALMOST the perfect laptop. Only have the weird fan noise + keyboard issue. Atleast ASUS puts forth an effort to fix their problems (like the video card throttling issue), unlike Toshiba... still getting nightmares about the P105 S9337 stuttering problem.

I don't know about where you live, but my local BB's allow a refund or exchange in the first 14 day, no questions asked and also no restocking fee. They just changed the no restocking fee within the last month or two. I would make sure if this is or is not the case at your BB.
