Ok, so some of you might remember I originally got a g50v.....was defective and returned it...got a g50vt, was defective AGAIN.....and got another g50vt...
Well for the past 2 weeks my replacement g50vt was working great till yesterday... I used the laptop till it went into hibernation and today I noticed that not even the direct console button was on...figured it was just completely discharged. I plug it in and turn it on...use it for one hour, and then I was gonna move the laptop and I unplugged it and it shut down instantlyI plug it in again, turn it on and this time I check the battery meter and it says (plugged in, charging 0%)...
The battery is not retaining ANY charge, it remains at 0%... I already tried reseating the battery and leaving it charging without turning on the laptop and nothing.
Its my third fricking G50V series laptop....Im gonna go back to best buy and this time demand a refund, I don't want this to happen again, im in the middle of finals and I just can't afford my laptop crapping out on me.
One time...fine...two times....okay..............three times??? give me a break.
Anyways I just had to let some steam out...Im quite mad about this since I depend on my laptop for school.

Get a Mac. It just works.
Seriously, though, I know how you feel. Maybe give it another shot, and you'll have no problems, or maybe try a different brand or computer. Fill out a FAQ if you'd like some recommendations.

If I go with another brand, I would like something with a similar videocard, gateway FX series was really good for me, but carrying a 17 inch laptop around all the time was the dealbreaker. -
Wow. That really sucks. I'm in college, and I can tell you I live on my laptop. I can't go without one because almost everything at my school is handled electronically. Even what I am currently using (Gateway M-152XL P.o.S. cut-every-corner-possible-and-then-some laptop) isn't that bad.
I'd recommend a Dell. I've owned 7 machines from Dell starting from 1997 with the most recent purchase in 2007. Every one of them is still running; even the Pentium 166 MHz MMX enhanced, 64 MB, 2 GB IBM Hard Drive, Windows NT 4, Dell Latitude (forgot the model) is still running strong since 1997. You definitely won't go wrong there. -
Man, that's pretty bad luck! It's a good thing you got it from Best Buy. An online retailer would have been so much pain to deal with.

Sigh, I don't think ill find another 15 inch laptop with a 9800GS at that price
And yes, I can't go a day without my laptop cause of school.... There's a class that im coursing this semester that requires me to send homework every
single day before 9pm, and thats just one...
I'm an industrial design student and I do a lot of CAD, photoshop, illustrator and 3d work... -
is there any chance that you have been consistently using a defective power outlet which may be causing electrical damage over time to your components?

Thats big time bad luck. I owned an asus Z70Va and it was very good to me. I sold it and bought a Lenovo T500.
-
just an update...
went to best buy and because of my "case" they decided to give me the battery of a newly opened display unit while I wait for the new one...
Oh well, as long as it works and does not break in 2 weeks...
cheers -
Hoping the best for you!
Thats it, Goodbye asus...
