When I'm searching in google i found that the V2S-4S031G does come with a 8600GT and you can search google yourself and find that.
Any comments?

WE all know that since the V2S was annouced.
What we need to know is if it's 512MB DDR2 800 or 256MB GDDR3 1400 -
Crimsonman Ex NBR member
most likely DDR2, since it's so small.
-
-
Very interesting. Though it looks like those specs are for Australian models.
-
This is a real toss-up though...8600GS with GDDR3 or 8600GT with GDDR2? I think they'd perform about equally.
-
it also says that it has a travel drawer
which is characteristic of the V1....i don't think it has the GT
that would just be poor marketing on behalf of ASUS to put the GT in the V2 -
-
The GS as half the shaders, it will take AA/AF/higher resolution with less impact than the DDR2 GT but it will never equal it in a resolution like 1280x800
-
-
I just took a look at the ASUS Australia site, I don't even see the V2j, hmmm...
-
8 cell on V2s..
Delicious.. -
Well if it does have the GT, that would justify the price difference between the V2 and F8 even more (better build and same GPU). Which would possibly cause more buyers to spend the premium price on the V2 and would in turn bring in more profit to Asus and distributers, right?
Either way I'd get the F8 cuz I kant afferd da V2... -
Wait a sec, the W2W has PM945? That makes it have a Merom cpu, what the hell was Asus thinking?
-
It's not just the graphics card that makes the difference.
I bet that's the version with 3.5G. It also has 8 cell battery, and probably a lot more that I didn't look for. -
-
Looking at the specs here, some of them are very different from anything else we've seen for the V2S.
Some differences:
VISTA ULTIMATE
NVIDIA GEFORCE GO 8600M GT, 256MB (TURBOCACHE 1GB)
LI-ION 8 CELLS (PLUS TRAVEL DRAW)
363 x 263 x 22-35.7mm/2.7 KG WTIH 8 CELL BATTERY
In fact, a lot of the specs resemble the V1S specs (8 cell battery? travel draw?). Personally, I think the reseller has accidentally mangled the V1S specs with V2S specs. -
but i agree...i think the reseller just labeled the laptop wrong.
otherwise that laptop would be too good to be true -
Nope, In Aus it is coming with the GT version

Either Asus Australia is incorrectly listing it and told all these retailers the wrong info, Or Australia is getting a good deal for once. -
They configuered the V1s differently for Australia to, We get the T7300 and Vista Ultimate.
-
-
Send you one for $200USD extra
lol. I think this is like the first time in history Australia has gotten a decent extra feature.
-
-
XD hehe no worries. Still its really odd to offer it with the GT in Aus and not in the US, I dont think the AU ever really gets better models because the market is so much smaller and far less competitive here. (Comparison, V1s is 2600 lowest price in aus or 1800 in the USA, 2600AUD = 2350US.)
-
would the warranty still apply here in the US if it was imported? Is the Australian keyboard different than the US? What about the power adapter?
I really want one of these! It is much nicer than the F8 and will be available soon. -
The warranty would still apply as Asus offers an internation warranty (Same reason im importing my V1s from the USA) The Aussie Keyboard is identical to the USA one (We speak English here
) The power adaptor like all notebook adaptors operates between 100v-240v, Australia is 240v, All you would need to do is change the end cord which is modular (Meaning it just unplugs) You can buy it at radioshack for ~$5.
-
Oh... that is good news
I know you speak english, but then some english speaking countries use a different layout. Anyway, I found an Aussie website that has a (converted) price of $2008. A little high, but it would be a killer laptop and probably have GDDR3 as it has 256MB VRAM.
I want this now! -
Hehe, Where did you find it for that price out of Curiosity?. Make sure its the 4S031G suffix.
-
-
Is but im not in the UK, Im in Australia, And we use Qwerty, And the USA keys ($ instead of the pound symbol, Non accented keys, ect)
-
-
-
That price was without GST at dontpayretail.com, the link provided in an earlier post. When I say converted I mean AUD to USD.
-
Ah, You would have to pay GST. Even if you plan to export it. The AU government always wants a cut
.
-
These are exact parameters of V1s so it's just incorrect listing, it seems -
We shall see soon enough, though. Not long now! -
Seems odd that all 8 hits that came up for "V2S-4S031G" came up with identical results. Maybe Asus sent out the wrong info?. Also they all list it as 8600GT 256mb not 512mb, The Aussie V1s has the 512mb.
-
First the W1. Now this? I think I might cry.
-
By the way, in your signature you have said that you have ordered the V1S with a 6 cell battery. I thought they came with an 8 cell battery only - is this incorrect? -
No My sig states 6 cell modular battery, I got the 8 cell and the 6 cell battery.
-
Sometimes resellers copy each other's information. I've seen different European resellers using identical specs before.
May even be possible that a few of the resellers are owned by the same company. -
I think I'm reserving judgement until they're released. Something seems a bit off to me.
Remember the whole V2S 6+9 cell battery pre-order hajinx? -
Yeah, trouble is when they're released you'll no longer be able to join the group buys which are getting discounts and freebies.
The ASUS V2S-4S031G comes with the 8600GT
