Note: the replacing aspect is dreadful, not the laptop, this thing is pretty good.

Alright, so knowing that Asus stopped pounding out the G50VT models in general and that my warranty is going to expire in about...oh a week (less than that)
    AND
that my laptop is about to go haywire from being very close to a fire (the plastic grill is gone and the bottom looks kinda melted) and dropping it (...), I'd like to ask: how does the replacement process work? Do I go through Asus or do I go through the reseller with my problem? Can I even get it replaced?

I also have more questions but I already forgot them, will post more.

    Thanks!

Do you have an accidental warranty? If not, you won't be getting a replacement. Most warranties do not cover damage resulting from fires or drops.

Point in asking is that not all the G50VTs have ADH warranty.

If you purchased your Asus through Best Buy, you'd have to go through Asus to get any repairs done. If your laptop has accidental warranty, then everything you mentioned should be replaced at their cost, including all shipping costs.

No, I bought a g50vt from best buy too and they strip the accidental warranty out from the best buy models.

This is because best buy offers your their own extended warranty which covers accidents (I always get it, its worth it).

So, if you got the extended warranty from best buy, throw your laptop to the ground and take it. If not, then im afraid you are out of luck since the standard warranty does not cover accidents.

Some of the Best Buy G50vt models actually had the Asus accidental warranty as far as I know. It's a little strange, actually.

True, but I'd also suggest to the OP that he/she should double check with the standard warranty with Asus. Given that sometimes Asus is lenient on the repairing regulations, they may repair it free of charge. In addition, Some units may have 2-years depending on the arrangement by the sale and marketing department and BestBuy.

    I will check with Asus.

Also thanks brehidran, this might be useful. But yea, I can't get the accidental warranty, tried to sign up for it, they didn't take my serial.

Only 4 days until my warranty expires. We'll see what happens

Also I've read many stories about BestBuy's extended warranty, maybe the people who used it were just idiots, but we'll see.

I would also like to point out that the gfx card (Even after blowing off the dust) has been performing at speeds that I can no longer be satisfied with before my little "accident".
