It seems the heat on this unit just radiates onto me...
I sit in my bed using this machine (it's a fair distance away resting on a pillow) and my arms and eyes and face become flustered and sore, necessitating me to go and wash my face and arms...

This just from resting my wrists on this machine, with the metal chasis very hot, and it seems that something is radiating onto my eyes as well

    What's going on :(

That doesn't sound good. My palm rest gets warm and there is heat coming from the right side vent but it doesn't actually get hot.

Maybe you are allergic to Asus. :p

first dont rest your laptop on a pillow it cant ventelate properly and is probably getting way hotter than it should. as for the other issue with your skin that sounds like you are just overly sensitive to heat or something its not the laptop unless like the other poster said you are allergic to asus.

Ditto..... don't EVER restrict the air going in or out... putting a laptop on a pillow is a great way to suffocate it - seriously.

Something flat like a table. You can buy lap trays that make sure there is sufficient air flow and allow you to put the laptop on your bed or floor or wherever.
