I was wondering if this computer was able to handle dual monitors? I doubt it but I thought it would ask. Also I was wondering if the 13inch model does.

hey guys....is the 2gb ram enough to stream hd hulus...etc...?

also...is the aluminum the slick shiny kind...like the smooth surface...or the matte surface....the reason why is because i have the dell xps with the aluminum plastic thing and with use- you can see darkening marks on it :(

Hey Guys. I've read something about this problem somewhere in this forum, but I couldn't find a solution any place. Does anybody have a fix for the loose keys on the keyboard. Mine are on the left side. Guess I'm pretty luck that that's all I have to complain about. TIA...

they finished repair today. they did no repair though. they said it was normal. maybe he or she didn't understand the problem or didn't know how to fix it... i'm disappointed. don't RMA it!

it's a big deal to me so i think i'm going to sell it. i just hope they don't send it back with scratches or new damage, i heard stories like that!

It's not the actual keys, it's the aluminum that surrounds the keys. It's a little loose on one side so the keys make a little noise. On the side of the keyboard where the surround is tight, the keys are more silent. If you push down a bit on the loose side, the keys become silent like the other side. Don't let this scare you off. It's a "GREAT" laptop & I'm sure you'll like it.

wow $100 for those? why couldn't asus just give buyers the option of choosing a model with higher capacity for a little more rather than spending $100+ to get a whole new battery :(

Yea battery's cost a pretty penny, but i want the extra juice. Having that option at purchase would have been a whole lot better for us AND cheaper

Are you sure they list that for the UL20a? Could it be the UL20 maybe?

just 1 week. i hear most RMA is at least 2 weeks. the package arrived to them on friday. on tuesday, i got an email from the technician who said nothing was wrong with it.

    edit:
i wonder what else they did to my laptop... idle and load temperatures on the CPU is much lower now. under load it peaks at ~45. it used to be ~50+

hmm weird, i wonder why they have to "lie" that they didn't do anything. maybe it's because they want to deny any flaws it has? can you copy/paste the email they sent you say nothing happened?

i deleted the email. i can remember some sentence though. hmm...

    "there is no problem."
"the movement of the keys is normal."
"we will send back your laptop. it may take up to 5 buisness days."

i still have the paper that the technician printed.
maybe he or she felt it is so insignificant it is not worth to mention?

does anybody know if you can easily remove the keyboard & put something like 2 way tape under it to get rid of the flex, which causes the rattling of the keys?

if you call them they may tell you. when i first called support, they offered to send me a new keyboard. they said to call them after i receive it for instructions.

Why do you think they would lie? They may honestly think they did nothing.
I wouldn't be surprised if they inspected the notebook by opening it up and then putting it back together. They then may not have thought that they fixed anything, but possibly when they reassembled they may have tightened a screw or something slightly differently, to cause the "fix".

i just got this notebook today and playing with it right now. upon first boot up, why does it ask to create recovery DVD's? isn't there already a recovery DVD included in the accessory box as well as a recovery partition on the HD? unless the included recovery disk is not the same as the recovery DVD's that will be burned from this

Also picked up this laptop a couple days ago - ran some benches, then popped in the Kingston 128GB SSD. Running like a charm. Originally picked up an HP Mini 311, but that thing was atrociously slow. This one's a keeper.

If I press down on the keys around the Windows key/left Alt, the keyboard backplate depresses slightly, along the same lines as several of you have described. Fortunately, normal typing pressure doesn't cause any issues, so I'm okay with it.

Do we have an owners lounge at all? I'm surprised this laptop isn't more popular, considering it's several hundred cheaper than the UL30A series, and smaller + lighter. I know having used a Dell XPS M1330 for a couple years, I was looking for something in the 11.6"/12" range.

I know, I would like an owner's lounge too. I purchased one of these and I'm waiting for it to get here. Got it from zipzoomfly, should be here by the 30th.

Where did you get the SSD and how much did it cost you?

I just bought the ul20A. I was very happy with it at first but two things have come up that are bothering me.

    1) The front edge of the notebook seems to be a little sharp right below the touchpad area (where the silver top over the keyboard meets the black bottom of the notebook). Is anyone else noticing that? (There actually seems to be a little separation where they are joined)

    2) The hardrive seems to be a little noisy. I didn't expect that from such a thin device.

I tried searching this thread, the ASUS subforum, and the overall forum as well, but couldn't find any info on what cases or sleeves fit the UL20A the best. I prefer something simple, preferably without an accessory pocket, prefer zipper case versus sleeve, and not too thick either. And definitely a snug fit. Anyone find one that fits well? I tried searching Amazon for cases/sleeves based on dimensions and came up with a few that might work, but wanted to see if any UL20A owners have found a perfect fitting case. Thanks!

I have an 11.6" Acer and I'm using a 10.2" neoprene netbook sleeve. It fit perfect and it's simple.

sorry to bring up a dead post but i just got a new ul20a and noticed an abnormally large creaking noise. i found that the keyboard was really flimsy near the top likenear the F keys. It especially makes a loud clicky noise as i press the F6 button as if the top part of the keyboard hasnt been properly attached to the base of the laptop. Keys like F1 and F12 on either side of the centre are fine though. Is this typical of this laptop or is a exchange warranted?
    Heres what i'm talking about
