How long is the usually wait from when you order a laptop from one of these Asus resellers to when they ship it out? It's been like 3 days now and no action... I'm just worried I won't get it in time for the start of law school which is in a week!

I guess I'm use to Amazon.com and the like who sends it out on the same day or next day.

Depends on the reseller and their stock.

    Best bet - call them.

I guess it depends on which notebook you ordered... if it's something like the W3J which is always in short supply, you might have to wait for the next shipment, and you should confirm with your reseller about availability..

Alot of dealers don't keep them in stock, when one is ordered, they order it from ASUS, then send it to you after receiving it.

It totally depends on the reseller you went with. Unless we're talking a preconfigured system like the ASUS ensembles, there is some time involved. They need to build the system to your specifications first and foremost. Then most of them burn in the components to make sure they're working properly for 2-3 days before sending it out.

Give them a call to check on your status.

    Thanks all.

I'll contact them next week if it's still hasn't been shipped. It said that they were in stock of the model I purchased, so I don't know what the hold up is...

It all depends on the reseller. I've dealt with resellers that took well over a month of phone calls to get my system out, and when it finally came, they botched the job. I had to RMA it 5 times in a row. Took 11 months before I finally got it in working condition. By then, my warranty was basically up, and the computer was outdated. This was the Uniwill in my sig, purchased from ibuypower. Thankfully it is in working condition now, and I also got to have some fun modding it. =)

I ordered my Z96J from Geared2Play and they shipped put it together and shipped it out the day it was released by Asus. I had my notebook together and working before a lot of resellers even got their first shipment.

What reseller did you buy from? When making such a big investment, especially on a computer, you really should make a point to buy from someplace that has very good warranty policies and a good reputation. I learned the hard way. Also, and I know, I hate this cliche, "You get what you pay for". When you try to pinch pennies and buy from somewhere cheap, you'll usually end up getting screwed. On the other hand, I don't think the statement really applies to places that charge a fortune for a POS. Although in a sense it does... you pay for their marketing campaign, and the brand name, rather than the POS computer. So I guess the cliche really does hold true, but not in the way most people think.

Mine took around 5 days to build and would have taken 3 days shipping to get here if it wasn't shipped over a weekend. I should be getting it on Wednesday. I cant wait! :)
