I realize there are other threads to conceivably wade through, but I thought it would be good to have one with the current state of lag.

I have the newest BIOS, which I thought was supposed to fix it and fairly new Touchpad drivers but there's still lag.

I don't want to disable the touchpad, but I will resort to uninstalling the touchpad drivers if that's the only option.

SO: What currently needs to be done to eliminate the keyboard lag?

I'll edit this post to reflect the general consensus on solutions.

BIOS update doesn't appear to fix it.

    Fixes

Install new ATKhotkey and ATK OSD2

    Alternate solution
Uninstall touchpad drivers. You lose Advanced features, but it fixes the lag

I think by uninstalling the touchpad drivers, you can still use the touchpad but without the sensitive controls and some special features. It cured the lag problem of my F8Va, I presume it will do the same for the G50.

After update BIOS you still need to install new ATKhotkey and ATK OSD2.

And yes, just uninstall touchpad driver will fix the problem and touchpad still works.

Hi and thanks for the great fix!!

I bought an asusG50vt-x5 from best buy about 6 months ago. The keyboard lag was super annoying, but not anymore.
However, I have created a new problem in the process...

I did not update the bios because it was said that it did not fix the problem, but I did uninstall the touchpad drivers and then uninstalled the old atk files. Then I went to asus support and downloaded and installed new atk files.
One good thing about the touchpad drivers was that if I wanted to disable the touchpad, I would just hit the touchpad symbol next to the power button. This no longer works.

Is there an easy way to disable/enable the touchpad on and off now that the synaptic drivers are gone?

Unfortunately, the only way to enable/disable touchpad hotkey is with the driver installed.

There might be a community solution to this, but as far as official notes from our R&D, the touchpad suite is required in order to have touchpad enable/disable hotkey funtionality.

How do I disable the touchpad driver?

Forget it, I just figured it out. But I don't understand the comment above that the
disabling the driver, the touchpad still works. Mine doesn't.
