A little disappointed. It is basically an overclocked GT 435m based on the article.

Very interesting. I bet it is the 500 series.

I dug up something even more interesting: it turns out someone is already auctioning a Sandy Bridge, N12P-GS, Intel HM65 w/Optimus -based Compal pre-production model:

Notice that the N12P supports both 1GB and 2GB of RAM.

qm means that it is a mobile quadcore.

because that's the new, unreleased 32nm Sandy Bridge based quad core CPU with an IGP for switchable graphics.

Are those prices for real? Micro Anvika has the current N73JN on offer for £1100, £940/980 for new gen CPU, GPU and 6GB RAM in the package seems like a dubiously good deal.

The GPU is expected to be the nVidia 540. As others have stated the new i7's are going to have this new number scheme. From what has been speculated 2630QM is the expected CPU for the NA Channel model.

Wow, 8.5k 3dMarks? I guess this means midrange GPUs are about up to par with the higher end GPUs of the 8000/9000 series or so. Like a 9700m GT or 9800m GS. Pretty good.

Not even impressive. GT 540m is basically a renamed GT 435m with slightly overclock!! (GPU-Z shows everything)

I was hoping for something like a 580m that would compare to the 480m, but not require an air conditioner.

With you on this one, I have no idea how ASUS offers this resolution even on their premium line. 900p should be a minimum for 15"

Yes they are going to have i5 Sandy Bridge with N73 & N53

Found this in Asus China page...they've listed i5 as their option too.

Pretty sure the nvidia 540 is a 425 rebadge ... so it isn't particularly amazing.

2630 running at speeds that used to be 920 extreme in the old I7. That's impressive improvements, imo.

NVIDIA Announces GeForce GT 540M Notebook GPU | techPowerUp

It's clocked @ 672/900 which is higher than a GT435M (650/800) let alone a 425 (550/800). *educated guess* The power evenlope should be similar to a GT420M since that was what the Acer 4741G used before it switched to the GT540M, that's pretty impressive if you ask me. Oh, here's hoping G/DDR3 dies a swift death in 2011 for GDDR5.
