Cheaper, no, but you have to wonder about the comparative functionality of this model given the influx of newer/better netbook models over the past few months. The original Eee started the trend, but there were a lot of shortcomings with that model that newer netbooks have addressed.

If you plan on using this for anything much, you might consider spending a little more for the IdeaPad S10 which was just released. You can get it for around $390 with VISA discounts, and there are other coupons floating around in the threads over in the IBM forum.

Not a good deal , and you should probably wait for the 701SD with 8GB SSD at a $299 price point.

I think the EEE lost to the Wind. I want a Wind one day when the price drops to MSRP and you can easily get one.

Bigger screen and no cramped keyboard. Plus the bigger HDD & a few other extras.

I agree, when you're looking for a serious netbook then this is not a good choice. But lots of people are looking for the cheapest or smallest notebook out there.

The cheapest and smallest btw might be the 3K RazorBook 400 Mini-Notebook PC. This one costs $249.00 right now.

In Europe this netbook is sold as a "Trendtac EPC 700" for EUR 199,-- which seems to be overprized. Some people claim the Trentac will be a cult-pc for techno geeks, other say it's a third world computer or a notebook for people on welfare or school kids without money. It runs on a SOC (system on chip), which is also used in mobile phones and mp3 players.
