I took it upon myself to build my brother's friend a z96j. He really wanted a WSXGA screen and ATI graphics card. Fortunately for him, the z96j price has went significantly down since I purchased mine last summer.
Moreover, Asus has revised the z96js into the z96jm. Changes include a change in color scheme, addition of an e-Sata and another USB 2.0 port (for a total of 5 instead of 4). They also threw in 2 metallic Asmobile stickers to put on our laptops.
For the most part, it is exactly identical in terms of performance to the z96js. (See signature for full z96js review)
