    Hi all,
I'll be assembling my M6Ne on Monday and wondering what everyone's experience has been with thermal paste? Is it a good idea? Should the compound that's already on the CPU be cleaned off first?

Also, can anyone comment on the M6Ne vertical viewing angle and the colour inversion at extreme vertical angles. And I know there are different LCDs out there, but what about response time? Any noticeable ghosting when moving around Windows? (my Latitude D600 was horrible in this regard).

    Cheers

Thermal paste is not a bad way to go, it can help improve thermal conduction and keep your cpu a few degrees cooler. And YES, make sure you clean of the other stuff completely before applying any new thermal paste.
The vertical viewing angle on my M6Ne is very good for a notebook, which in reality isn't that great but its wide enought that the screen doesn't have to be in its sweet spot to see it, the colours don't invert... they just get dull. Its much better horizontally.
Havent't really noticed any ghosting but then this isn't something that annoys me so I've never really bothered looking for it.

Let me first say...... I'm the biggest fan of watercooling and my company is one of two distributors for some of the finest german watercooling equiptment..... I know why and how to keep systems cool.

However, on centrino systems it's not really needed. The cooler your system is, the better it'll run and the longer it'll last... especially if you are overclocking (something you shouldn't be doing with a centrino systme anyway). If you are cooling with a watercooler, the better contact between the cpu and the waterblock are a must. However, the pentium-m doesn't get hot enough for the paste or even water to make a difference. If you get 1/2 a degree cooler cpu, I'd be surprised. With that you're not going to get any longer life out of the cpu or any better performance from the system.

The problem with a thermal pad found on the heatpipe is that it's basically for a one time use. If you plan on taking your cpu off a lot, the paste should surely stay moist and allow for multiple use.
