The ASUS VX2s, U3s, S6fm and U1f
With technology noticing that, indeed fashion can make a break a product, they've started to 'pretty' up their offerings. From the iconic Apple designs in technology, to Alienware's traditional space look, it's easy to see today technology isn't just about whats inside - what's outside and how it looks matters as well. By looking at the market, it has gotten a true facelift from traditional electronics that looks like a box with black paint to devices with sleek curves, aesthetic designs and premium materials. In the notebook world, this is not a rarity at all. Brands like HP, Acer and Dell noticed this, and started follow the leads of such brands that like to show off such as Apple, Alienware, Sony and even a small brand like ASUS.
On August 27ths to the 29th of 2007, ASUS will be sponsoring the PROJECT show in Las Vegas. Known as a marketplace tradeshow, this event gathers thousands of visitors, retailers and brands converge.
The ASUS VX2s, U1f, S6f, U3 and an 'unnamed' eco-book will be participating in the event, both as display models for ASUS, as well as act as a booth via Internet to gain access to the various companies fashion collection models.

ASUS loses Macbook orders, and potentially more?
![]()
In the second quarter of this year, Apple moved all of its 13.3" Macbook orders which was previously shared by Quanta and ASUS to strictly Quanta. In addition, major OEM notebook manufacturers such as Quanta, Wistron and Compal are gearing up for big orders from brand giants such as Dell, HP and Acer. Quanta has large orders coming from HP and Acer, and currently manufactures their DV lineup. Compal, too, has large orders coming in from Dell, as they continue to manufacture the Inspiron notebooks(15.4" and 17") as ASUS makes the 14" Inspiron, as well as a large number of Toshiba notebooks. Wistron has been very busy as of late, especially with the elusive Dell m1330 model being delayed, as well as Lenovo's consumer based notebooks.

AMD and nVidia Graphics chips in short demand, priority on key customers
Both AMD/ATi and nVidia are quite logged back on their graphics chip, but both are giving prioirty to their key customers. AMD/ATi's HD2xxx series is being prioritized towards major GPU manufacturers such as HIS and Sapphire. nVidia's 8xxx series is in very high demand, and they are allocating majority of their stock for their higher customers, such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte.
Of course, they are probably referring to the desktop versions of the video cards, but I would not be surprised if it too applied to the notebook versions, as majority of ASUS notebooks have the nVidia graphics chip and does not seem to be in short supply, yet?
