So I contacted Asus to request an EMA number for my G73, which I purchased April 30 of last year, which is having power issues. They respond back, saying my laptop has only three month warranty.
I was under the impression the industry standard was one year.
I found this website, which states Asus laptops have one year: ASUS Service for North America
I DID buy this at Best Buy, but from what im reading, the agreement between best buy and Asus gives one year warranty.
Is it typical to get told you have THREE MONTHS?
No, this is not refurbished, it is Retail.

Your laptop will have a label on the bottom with the serial number, under that it will have the length of the warranty.
The warranty length starts from the day you bought it, as long as you registered online and/or purchased from an authorized retailer and have a copy of the receipt. Otherwise it starts from the month of manufacture, which can be figured by looking at the beginning of the serial number.
