That's sweeeett
Too bad I don't have an email LED =S -
hmmm... doesn't seem to work on my Z71v
-
Thank you Docc.
This extension works only in the ASUS laptops with the ASUS ATKACPI driver already installed.
I also found a problem with en-US localization, "InBox" instead of "Inbox" in thunderled.properties file.
The Mozilla Developer Control Panel is closed, I'm waiting to upload the fix.
Leonardo -
well....
fully working with my a6km on xp and tb 2 beta...
ATKACPI comes with windows on asus laptops, so imho you have to look elsewhere...
great job
hope a fix helps djembe -
Doesn't work on my Z71V either.
-
dosnt seem to work on my asus g1
-
What models have the email led?
-
Sorry for the problems, I uploaded a new version (0.2.1) in this forum.
I hope I fixed the problem with the en-US localization.
Please, if you want it works, let me know the right spelling of "Inbox" in your language.
Only some models have the email led, I don't know exacly which ones.
Thank you.
Leonardo
File removed, go to the next page for v0.2.2 -
Hey, it works now! Thanks, Leo!
-
Works fine on A6Ja, running Vista. Thanks.
-
Sweet, working here too now. Thank You very much
-
works fine
-
Please ACN, could you tell me which version of Vista you have? 32 or 64?
Thank you.
Leonardo -
I just noticed, and was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. Mine only lights up when I start up thunderbird and it retrieves the mail. But when I leave it on and it updates itself the LED doesn't light up anymore. Only on a fresh start.
-
YAY it works lol ty
-
I have noticed that only incoming email in the Inbox lite up the led. When a email from my Newsgroup come in, i reroute it in a different folder. this emails doesnt enable the led.
-
I know that problem. Because I don't have subfolders in Inbox I didn't.
I'm going to let the LED light up when a new message arrive in Inbox and in its subfolders.
Personally I don't want the led on when I receive junk or I put unread mail in the trash.
Is your newsgroup folder inside Inbox?
If yes, I'm going to fix it soon.
UPDATE version 0.2.2, please, give me feedbacks.
If not, I planned to do thunderled configurable.

Works great now, and any of my unread stuff in my sub-sub-subfolders light up the led too now. Thanks a bunch Leo
-
Thank you very much for the fix, Leonardo. Awesome addon. ^^

I've just edited the fisrt post, now the link refers to the new version.
Well done Leo! -

Finally, the Mozilla add-on site is updated.
You can download the version 0.2.2:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/4540
There is also a new version 0.2.2.7 with more translations.
This is in the Sandbox, in order to see that version you need to login and activate the Sandbox.
Also, if you write a positive feedback for 0.2.2.7, it will be available to download to everyone.
I'll try to add a menu and newsgroup support.

I was going to write something like this for Linux, but I guess you saved me the trouble. How is this any different from my chkmail program that already works on Windows?
-
Sorry, but I had some problems using chkmail, so I decided to develop Thunderled.
I started this extension looking at your "leds" source. I changed it a little and included in Thunderled.
I think that chkmail checks a windows registry key, while Thunderled checks the status of Thunderbird, then Thunderled toggles the led on/off.
For linux, Thunderled uses asus_acpi driver, it works for me, but I didn't receive any feedback from other linux users. Does it work in your linux?
Leonardo -
I haven't tried it yet. The asus_acpi driver works for me though, so I guess it should be fine. I use Seamonkey, but the MailNews part should be about the same as Thunderbird.
Yes, chkmail checks the WindowsXP registry key, so it works with all email clients but only on WindowsXP. Putting the function into a Thunderbird/Seamonkey extension is good, it should work on any OS. -
Still works like a champ leo, thanks for the update to Thunderled.

Damn, well I just spent the past hour adding all my email accounts to thunderbird.
-
works perfect on G1 with vista home premium 32bit
-
Just a little FYI, when I had checkmail (for led on vista) installed thunderled didn't turn on my led. However when I turned off/uninstalled checkmail thunderled worked again. Just thought I'd let anyone know if they were having issues.
-
^^^yeah
i got a question though... this only works when i have thunderbird open...
so basiclly its kind of pointless...
is that wat its sposed to do??? or is it supposed to always light up when i have new mail even if thunderbird is closed... and if so how do i configure it to do that... -
yeah it only lights up with thunderbird open. There is a plugin to minimize thunderbird which I use. It's called "Minimize to Tray". You can set it so that when you click on the close button it just minimizes thunderbird and some other stuff as well I think. It would be nice if Checkmail could work with thunderbird as I didn't have to have the windows mail program open for that one to notify me. But I like Thunderbird loads more than the new outlook express.
-
Does this little addon work on Vista (32bit Ultimate) or is it just some coincidence that it worked for some users?
Anyway, great idea, thanks Leonardo! -
Great idea, thanks!
But it only works for me when I open TB and there are new mails. If TB is open and receives a new mail, the led won't light up.
Mine is an Asus V1JP and I'm running XP 32 Professional, and TB 2.00b2
Ooskong, were you able to fix this? -
Also, Thunderled works only if new emails arrive in Inbox folder or sub-folder. It doesn't work if you redirect you emails in different folders and it doesn't work yet for newsgroups.
Leonardo -
asarco,
I'm using TB 1.5 so I don't know if it's an issue with yours being newer or what bro. After all of leo's fixes, now matter which subfolder of "inbox" my mails go to the led lights up. And like leo said if it goes to anywhere else other than inbox or subfolders of inbox it won't light up.
Oh but rereading your post you said it lights up initially, just not afterwards. Then I would say try what leo said and update to the newer thunerled if you haven't already gotten it. Sorry I can't be of much help. -
works like a charm....
now if only i could get it to startup with windows vista -
Hmm, well I'm wondering if you can make a shortcut to TB and stick it in the "start up" folder like in XP. As I have just recently gone Vista I don't know if you can do this, though I do see the "start up" folder I can't seem to move stuff around in the start menu.
-
When I and install it it says "This plugin is not compatiable with firefox" any ideas what to do?
-
Just a question but you do have Thunderbird installed right?
-
Yup. 2.0.0.6
-
nevermind, I missed the bit where it said save to desktop first, I think FF was trying to install it as a FF plugin
Thunderbird+Asus led? Thunderled!
