Did anyone here has managed to remove all the sticker of the W3J? I am very hesistant to remove the stickers of the W3J especially the stickers of the palmrest. Did it leave any marks or residue? Does it have any sign of discoloration?
Also, is the glossy part of the lid where the "W3 14" 15:9 Wide Screen" is located prone to scratches? This is because it is the only part of the lid which has a easy to remove plastic sticker and i assume Asus did this for a reason.
I just want to preserve the looks of the notebook as much as possible.
I also want to request if you can post a picture of your W3J without the stickers of the palmrest and the lid.
Is it best to just leave the stickers?

i can't even tell where the "splendid" and the big sticker with the specs on it were. there's no marks or residue on mine, just pull them off slowly.
as for the little black plastic piece on the lid, unfortunately i think it does get scratched, theres a whole bunch of tiny hairline scratches on mine. none of them are deep enough to really be considered a scratch, but they are visible. i still prefer that over keeping the little protector on it though, i hate those things.
i kept the ati, intel, windows xp and bluetooth stickers. -

One good way to protect your palmrest from showing your oils of your hands it to buy a plastic piece and put it over the palmrests.
Something like the PSP screen protector. Stuff like that can protect your palm rest.
As for your lid, again, you can use a plastic to cover it. -
haha I went thru the same thing when I first got mine. I know the feeling of spending all this money on something and wanting to preserve its pristine condition. I took the splendid and the specs sticker off. I left the ATI, intel, vista, and csr on. I think it looks a lot better, less busy and more stealth. One thing tho- I think they put those stickers there to prevent palm discolouration- I think somebody mentioned that their palmrests got kinda discoloured on a w3v (maybe the same for a w3j?). I use a BT mouse and regular keyboard most of the time so it's not a problem for me (it might not even be a problem for anybody).
I took the sticker off that "W3 14" 15:9 Wide Screen" part. It is definitely more prone to scratches than any other part of the w3j. I was just putting it into a bag with that side facing down but then I bought a case for it and I put it down on the battery side now. Its really not a big deal tho- you can really only see them if you put a microscope up to it.
But this notebook is probably one of the toughest normal notebooks I've seen besides the thinkpads. I'd buy a slip case or sleeve or whatever they are called- they are nice to have cuz you can throw it into a normal bag and it will be fine. There are some threads around that have good suggestions for sleeves. I bought one from futureshop in canada and it works well.
I don't really know how to post pics directly into here but maybe someone else can or even tell me how to do it.
have fun

There are 2 ways to post pics.
1) use your own FTP/website to host the pics and then put a thumbnail here.
2) Or use imageshack which is a lot faster. You will have 3 step process.
- 1. click browse find the image on your hard drive and click ok
- 2. click on the drop down menu and click optimize resolution
- 3. click Host It, and then wait 30 seconds or so and ur image will be complete
Then you take the 2nd URL, out of a possible 6-7 URLS, the 2nd url works best for forums.
This will end up giving the forum a thumbnail and then the people can click on it and enlarge it from there.
And yes discolouration of the W3J palmrests will and may occur over time, just like the W3v. Then again most laptops out there have this problem too, including the Macbooks/Pro. Use a plastic sheet to protect, i think that would be one of the best ways.
To W3J owners who has remove all its stickers. Please post pictures if possible.
