You in luck the top of the range V6V series from ASUS...15" and super thin has a non-glossy screen.
from my reading of the ASUS website which it self gets confused with its own terminology...what you dont want is colour shine

    But crystal shine is ok

By the looks of it the new V6J will have the option of colour shine, so you maybe lucky enough to find one without the glossy coating

the V6V is old technology the V6J is the new core duo version. Asus doesnt really have any good models with matte screen anymore.

Yeah at this moment, ASUS has not exactly released alot of matte screen laptops.

BGM how much time do you have untill you really need a laptop?

The V1J is said to have a matte screen, but other say it has a glossy screen. So no one knows for sure.

    Only time can tell.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

V6Va's graphic card is ATI x700 with 128MB, it is enough to handle the games. Its' screen also is a glossy one. It is a top of the line for Centrino(not a Core Duo). If we are looking for a thinner than many models.

Matte screens are mostly in business class machines - not exactly what Asus is targeting IMO.

Is there anyway of getting a W3J with only CrystalShine instead of both ColourShine and CrystalShine? While both the recent reviews of the W3J have said that the screen isn't all the reflective, I'm still hesitant about the whole glossy aspect of the screen.

ThinkPad's FlexView screen is the best matte screen I have seen.

Well according to Justin over at Proportable, the Z70Va has one of the best matte screens. This matte screen is supposedly the same one used in the old W1N which had a great matte screen.

If you don't need the latest and greatest, the Z70Va which is still freakin' fantastic can do the job for you at a lower price.

This thing is plenty powerful, so unless you need all the glory of the duo core then I say go for the Z70Va.

    :D
