14" have the W3s, but 15.4 only have ONE W1? Do I miss something? I'm really interested by the W1, BUT, there is only one model, with ATI graphic card (I want Nvidia), an useless TV tuner for my usage, and mate screen.

So if I want to have some choice for a multimedia usage, it's F3, and the build quality is clearly not the same. Price is around 1300-1500€. Then there are the Lamborghini ones, but that's out of budget, 2500€. Does Asus miss some contenders in this segment? No 15.4 around 1750€?

I know there is the V1JP, but it's more business oriented, and with this ATI card (die ATI die! Or bring some decent linux drivers!)...

Same suggestion. The Asus G1 will be good for you. Its build quality is still fantastic.

And it has a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7700, the most powerful out there for 15.4 inch laptops!

I have to say Asus-Lamborghini Vx2, more expensive than G1 but with higher quality materials.

The VX2 seems to have what a lot of people are looking to have, 2GB of Ram, highend CPU, possibly a 7200rpm hard drive, Nvidia graphic solution. Great design, quality and materials.

If you got the money for it, and time to wait for its release, this may be what your looking for, a super highend model, that comes in 2 colours yellow and black carbon.

I'd just get the G1 if I were you. I was also debating whether to wait for the Lamborghini VX2, but hte price tag is out of the question. At around $3000 or more (if shipping/tax included), I can almost buy 2 G1's. The build quality on the G1 more than excellent, and since the chassis is black, scratches aren't a concern.

Totally can't justify an additional $1500 (or less) just for extra build quality.

The VX2 is lovely but so exquisitely expensive. If you can afford it, go for it. If not, then the G1 is a nicer and cheaper alternative :) Remember, technology is ever changing. Think twice before you invest $3000 in a volatile technology ;)

The VX is clearly out of budget for me. I agree it's a beautiful machine, my title was probably wrong. I'm not looking for "top" quality, but probably only "good quality".

Then I also agree that the G1 is fitting my criteria. The only problem is that I prefer the W1 look. The G1 is a bit too much for me. I prefer something sober. Sadly only the W1 is left. I will wait for Santa Rosa models anyway, and see if there are some new models fitting exactly my needs. Otherwise I will go for a G1 or a F3. Thanks for all your comments!

I know this is the Asus forum, but look at other manufacturers if you are concerned about a certain look. There are plenty high quality notebooks out there.

Sure. But I'm looking at plenty of notebooks for weeks now, and from what I read, tested, saw, Asus is clearly in the top 3 of brands fitting my needs. Comparing notebooks in details, it's often difficult to find the same compromise of look/performances/build quality. I'm also looking at Dell and Apple notebooks mainly. MSI a bit, but they miss 7200 C2D on their french models. I would be happy to have some advices though. But for the moment, Asus is clearly on top of my list.

And again, it's not only about the "look". It's part of the deal, but build quality is important too, more than the look. There are plenty of good looking laptops everywhere, but the build quality is often very poor. I know i'm getting very picky, but 1500€ is not a small amount to me, so I will buy only if I'm very happy with my purchase.
