I have my power plan to 'Do Nothing' when the lid is closed.
After the lid has been closed for a few minutes, and I open it again, my mouse pointer is frozen on the screen, and the touchpad has no effect. The OS responds to keyboard, though, so it is not frozen itself.
I have tried pressing Fn + F9 with no success.
I have also updated to the latest Asus Touchpad driver.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Never mind. I fixed it by installing the latest Elan Smart Pad driver from the Asus site. (as opposed to the Asus Touchpad driver)

Strange─both the issue, as well as the fix for it. Glad you were able to resolve it, and thanks for following up with what worked for you.

I spoke too soon. The issue is still there. I find that pressing the disable/enable touchpad button four times unfreezes it.

I exchanged my notebook for another one, and the issue seems to be gone now <knock on wood>.
