    Hey everyone,

I popped in the transformers dvd for the first time today into my G1s and for some reason it plays real choppy/stuttering. I was wondering if anyone else here is having this problem. so far i tested blades of glory and remember the titans, both played fine, while many other dvd's including transformers and smallville season 6 however sucked bad. Anyone else have problem playing certain dvd's?

Codec for that movie may need help.

Try a different program to play the dvd.

I can offhand recomend the CCCP (combined comunity codec package) it comes with VCL and MPC I use them both depending on the file type. Once you install that package open the dvd in one of them and its probably going to play fine.

alright, i got it to play fine with vlc but the drive seems to spin real noisy to the point where its annoying. its not a whining noise but the noise as if the lens is constantly moving back and forth. kinda hard to explain.

The drive should only be loud when it's starting up. After it's loaded, it should be fine... Is this a legit disc lol?

i did a system recovery with the asus disc, now everything works fine and all dvd's play correctly. I dunno what happened before that caused my drive to act up.

Update: I started installing all my programs and after i installed PowerISO, popped in a dvd, it started playing choppy again, so my problem is PowerISO. I uninstalled the program, now dvd's play fine, wtf.

Copy protection or something maybe? Do you have poweriso comming on at start? Block it with MSConfig and see if things go back to normal, if not maybe poweriso is doing something to your codecs.
