Help! I am travelling to the United Kingdom tomorrow, and plan on taking my Asus W3V laptop with me. I am worried about the power situation though, as they use 240Vin the UK and here in Canada, where I purchased my laptop, we use 110V.

Does anyone have any advice on what sort of travel adapter I should purchase, or will a simple plug converter work? I really appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks!

Edit: Upon looking at the AC adapter, it says the input is "110V-240V ~ 1.5A". Does this mean I only need a plug prong converter, and not a transformer?

Yes, all you need is the 2 prong adapter that the UK uses. Some areas already have the dual outlet (just like some parts of Asia), where you can use both. As for Power, your laptop is rated to withstand the standard electricity over there and here.

Just to be on the safe side, try using a surge protector. I had difficulties with finding a 3 prong to 2 prong the last time I was in Asia. I wanted to make sure whatever needed a ground, got a ground. Well I managed to find one, ONLY one. So I hooked it up to a surge protector and hooked up all my devices to that (GBA not included- only 110).

I Live in India right now and the voltage is generally much higher then it should and really screws with most electronics... with the z70v its been causing it to shock me on the palm rests and once I got shocked when I touched the Portbar3 connection... I love asia... :) UK should be ok... they at least have stable voltage here it randomly changes and our house especially has some voltage probs...
