Okay well I just got this laptop yesterday and I'm somewhat familiarizing myself with vista. I installed Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source to check out the performance. Although as I started playing, every time I'd push a button the game would freeze for about a tenth of a second. I went back to my desktop and when I pushed buttons the 'default beep' would sound, which is what i'm guessing was happening in game. I disabled the sound but I still am unable to play fluently whenever I push a button in-game. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

That is a wierd problem. I would first start by figuring out what is causing the beep. Does it only do it when CS is trying to be played? Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling your anti-virus, especially norton. Have you checked to see if there is a current patch out for the game? I doubt the problem deals with the videocard drivers, but I would reccomend installing the 175.80 drivers anyways. I had video driver crashes before, and no issues now.

Even that beeping sound, the one that happens when you hold down a key for too long, that plays as well while i try pushing any buttons while playing a game. It's as if the computer doesn't recognize that I'm tryingto play a game. I have absolutely no clue why the beep is occuring. I got rid of the Norton (which i hate anyways and was planning on gettin rid of), and it hasn't helped w/ the issue.

Like jokers said, try installing all the security updates and SP1 if you haven't already. If that doesn't solve the problem, try using different graphics drivers.

Did you trigger the language bar by pressing Ctrl + Space during the game? What you're describing sounds like that's what's happening because I stutter and hear beeps too.
