I just got a new Asus N61j. It's great... But I have a big issue with it, and I'm really confused. Wondering if you guys would know anything about this or help me out. Or if anyone with an Asus has had a similar issue.
My specs are: Intel i5-430M, Geforce GT 325M 1GB, 4 GB ram
I'm a Flash developer and so I install Flash CS5 and get the newest flash player. But there is a very strange problem... Flash movies and flash games play slow! Even in the standalone flash player. The framerate, by my estimate, looks to be about 20 fps, when it's supposed to be running at 40. Flash games are very jittery and I can easily make out one frame from the next, unless they have very very simple graphics. The stranger thing is that when I count the actual framerate by displaying the fps within the actual file, it reports 40 fps. However, by my eye, it clearly looks to be around 20fps. What could be wrong? Is this a bug in Flash player? My Nvidia driver? Maybe even the screen?
I don't think this is a Flash problem because on any other computer, there is no such error, even when playing the same swf files, etc. It's definitely not a simple matter of performance level, because even 5+ year old laptops can run Flash games smoothly without a hitch, at high fps.
What's even more troublesome is that this bug isn't very documentable or even describable. There's no error message, no easy way to reproduce it on any other machine I've tried, so it's really hard to search for a solution. Has anyone here ever experienced this graphical error with Flash player? I don't know if this has anything to do with Asus, or Adobe, or Nvidia, or whoever.
I appreciate any help you guys can offer. This is a very strange and unexpected performance issue, and it is quite important to me as a Flash developer.
Troubling issue with Flash player. Has anyone else experienced this?
