    Hi All,
Been lurking for a while, and am looking to get a 14" notebook soon. I have been agonizing over which one. The W3v is looking pretty good for the money, with the dedicated GPU (hard to find at 14") and some nice components. Any comments from those who have had one for a while on if they still like it as well, or if they would change any specs, any problems, etc?

    Any info helps. thanks!

alot of the problems I've heard from users were primarily:
1). heat. While resellers will adamantly deny this or downplay it by comparing it to other notebooks, it is still a complaint I've heard.

    2). Viewing angles.

I've manage to see one myself and thought it was a pretty sweet machine. Didn't notice too much heat, but then again, didn't do anything that would really push the GPU or HD.

Ok i cant say i hated the machine the machine itsself is built very well it really has a great fit and finish. good battery life as well. The heat really is only and issue on your lap laptops always run cooler on a flat surface. My only gripe with the machine was the monitor which isnt much different from other 14.1in wide screens they seem to all have the same issues no matter the manufacturer and i dont blame asus because they dont make the lcd. But anyways saying the screen has bad viewing angles is an understatment. If all you do is web browsing and office apps u may never notice the issue. But try to watch dvds on it of divx movies and it has some serious limitations. The center of the screen will look fine but the top and bottum of the screen will invert the colors on dark images there is no way to have it look the way it should you adjust it and half looks good but the top will invert and all dark colors blend together you can nod your head no lie one inch and all the colors of the screen will change i would say its impossible to watch movies like they should be seen on this machine. now i wont say its a bad machine its built really well and the HP DV1000 which has a similar screen has the same color inversion issues with movies its just a technical limitaion of that screen. if that doesnt bother u then by all means it can be a good machine.

Here is the link to the issue im talking about. The resellers try to downplay it which i cant blame them but i really feel it is an issue.
