Currently, my Asus A8JM has 1gb memory ram, and I'm thinking of upgrading it to 2gb ram memory. I don't know much about the memory card. Does name of brand really matter? I looked into website I have picked following item, but is there better memory card for gaming?

    Crucial 2GB Set(2x1GB) 200-Pin PC2 5300 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2 RAM

The ram you that you left the link to is Desktop memory, and is too big/wont fit the connections for Laptops.

heres a bunch that should be compatible with the specs for that laptop

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2010170381 1309221136&name=DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

When i upgraded the ram in my g1, i grabbed a 2gig stick of pny's optima, and it works just fine, and im running an unmatched pair of memory in it (2gbx1, 1gbx1)
I dont know if thers gamer specific memory like there are for desktops for laptops, but any of the major manufacturers should be fine: crucial, kingston, pny, etc.

    hope I helped

also, i dont know if your computer has 2 sockets of ram occupied currently (512x2) or just one filled ram socket at 1gig. If u wanna do the 1 gig upgrade and you have a 1 gig stick in there already, just find out its specs and match that for the second one, but if u have 2 512mb's in there, u'll have to get 2 new ones.

Either Amazon has the wrong picture (which is definitely desktop), or the specs in the link are incorrect as being 200pin (desktop is 240). Either way, not worth the chance imo, as Amazon is well known to have occasional mistakes in their electronics listings.

If you insist on using Amazon (over NEgg), just get this 2GB stick -- there is absolutely no performance benefit to running a notebook in symmetric dual-channel RAM configuration (as there is in desktop configs), and you could even keep your existing 512 stick in there for 2.5 total.
